Asher's 4th Birthday Construction Vehicles Cake

I've known Asher from birth, another little boy I've seen growing up.
Most delighted to make his 4th birthday cake.

Our adorable construction cake with Caterpillar construction vehicles once more, complete with edible sand and chocolate pebbles.

I made and sent this cake out without the toys,
his parents put the Caterpillar vehicles and chocolate pebbles on site,
according to my placement instructions.
They are pretty skilled! ^_^ Good job, Pui Yee and Yew Wye.

Birthday boy was totally delighted! Yay!
Happy 4th birthday, Asher!

Zea's 10th Ballerina and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Birthday Cake

Zea is my friend Clarissa's eldest daughter,
incidentally he shares the same birthday as my eldest son, Aloysius.

She is a trained ballerina, yet passionate about brazilian jiu jitsu (also known as BJJ).
I incorporated both elements into this special cake.
This is the first time I made a 3D figurine and I think she looked pretty cute.
The figurine wore a maroon leotard which mimics the one that Zea used in real life.
I also made a BJJ belt with her ranking and draped it around the cake.

The delighted birthday girl with her cake! ^_^
Happy 10th birthday, Zea!

Wizard and Magic cake for Aloysius' Science theme 10th birthday party

10th Birthday is another milestone birthday for our family,
it signals the start of what is known as upper primary years.
When boys grow very quickly, in terms of physique and mentality.

We engaged Mad Scientists to host the birthday party.
The boys had a great time, being awed by scientific concepts and simple experiments.

My baking buddy Kim was most kind to help me out with the figurines.
Absolutely one of the most skilful cake decorator I know.
She made the wizard, owl, black cats (oooh), books, scroll and potion bottles!
Thank you, Kim of Scones N Whatever!
I made the 3 cakes (rainbow, chocolate and vanilla, lettering and the little stars.

To add a twist, I made a poured rainbow cake, instead of baking it, layer by layer.
See what they look like in the pan and when the cake was cut.

Up close with the figurines! So cute! *love*

Cub Scouts Job Week March 2014 for Aloysius, Luke & Ignatius

My dearest baking buddy and I got together and decided to do a bake sale for our boys' Cub Scouts Job Week since they were too young to do chores door-to-door. Luke and Aloysius was 10 years old (P4) and Ignatius was 9 years old (P3).

We brainstormed and decided that we'll make 1 item each. Mommy and Luke will make Lemon Cupcakes with Lemon Glaze, while Aloysius and Ignatius made brownies with me.

Next, we had to ask family and friends to buy our Buddy Boxes. We asked and cajoled! Guess what? We had orders for 71 boxes, no less!

The boys helped to make some of the cupcakes and brownies, while the mommies finished up making the rest.

We are grateful to our friends for their overwhelming support! Athough the mommies had backaches after all that baking and decorating, it was fun and we really enjoyed it!

The boys also folded all the paper boxes, stuck on the labels and fill them with goodies.

Thanks Kim Teo for being my baking buddy and also joining me for this project!

Macaron Cake for Sister Dearest

My sister is the best, always supportive and encouraging.
Ever since I started baking, she has ordered her birthday cake,
sometimes small and simple, other times big and fanciful.

This time round, she asked for something with macarons!
A simple celebration at home for just her own family.

I made a small vanilla cake frosted with swiss meringue buttercream
and topped it with 6 macarons with strawberry cream.

A few days later, my hubby asked for a similar cake for his colleague
visiting from the US.

I made an extra small vanilla cake frosted with swiss meringue buttecream
and topped with 5 mini macarons with strawberry cream.

He and his wife loved the cake and they thoroughly enjoyed it! ^_^
Yay!
