Cupcakes With Embossed Names Coming Soon

I met a kind-hearted blogger, she shared with me how to embossed names onto Fondant. I have been looking for this tool for the longest time and it's sold at one of the baking supplies shops which I frequent! Hahaha :)

I will be using the tool to emboss Ascensius' name onto the rainbow cupcakes that he will be bringing to school on 8th Feb to celebrate his 4th birthday!

Chinese New Year

Starting from this Friday night (20th Jan), I will be busy making 4 batches of buttercream icing, cutting many small Fondant letters, making 2 whole cakes and 36 cupcakes.
Lots of baking and decorating to do!

The whole cakes are for a dear friend and her mother-in-law who are ardent supporters! Thanks Bea and Aunty!

The 36 cupcakes will be for my 3rd son's birthday celebration
as he was born on the 2nd day of  Chinese New Year. Happy Birthday Ascensius!

Simple Pretty Cupcakes

A regular customer ordered 25 pcs of cupcakes for 15th Jan,
but he had a very special request - 14 pcs with single swirl icing and 11 without any icing.

He just enjoys eating the plain butter cake I made!

In Preparation For A Special New Year Eve and Triple Birthdays

I'm really excited :) I bought new alphabet cutters and Valrhona cocoa powder to make the special chocolate cupcakes for my brothers and a special friend. It's a triple birthday celebration plus counting down to the new year.

Special also because it's my new baby Dimitrius' first New Year.

I really can't wait for Friday so I can start baking!

Request For A Base Cake

My colleague called one day and ask if I would be interested in baking a cake for her younger son's birthday. She said that he liked soccer and dinosaurs. These 2 are quite different....... hmmm....

We talked about it for a while and we settled on the design - a large cake board covered with green buttercream icing, a 8" cake positioned such that there will be sufficient space to place Dinosaur Train toys around it and Fondant letters that spell "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER". The cake has uneven green icing all round, a ring of grass at the base and a river running across skewed to the right.

This was my first time trying to make and decorate a cake to such specific details, I felt nervous! :}

I enjoyed making marbled Fondant letters, I really liked how they looked. So I made it again this time.

The final product looked really cute, if I may say so. After the toys were placed on and around the cake, it truly became a customized Dinosaur Train theme cake!

Chinese New Year Auspicious Koi Cupcakes

I have just received the fortune fish chocolate pieces :) they will be used as cake and cupcake toppers.

Traditionally, koi are auspicious animals so using them during Chinese New Year is most apt!

Cupcakes will be $3 each and 8" cakes (approx 2 kgs) at $50 each.

I am still able to take orders for CNY, collection by eve of CNY on 22nd Jan @ 4pm.

C is for Caden

My 2nd order was from a very very old friend Regina, whom I knew what I was 16! Although we had lost touch for many years, we reunited in Facebook :)

She wanted me to make 35 cupcakes for her son Caden's 1st birthday. We discussed and settled on orange icing for boys and purplish pink icing for girls. And to play on the surname Moo, I would add cow sprinkles too. It sounded like a fun project! Along the way, I decided that I could also try to make fondant letter C in cow print to top the cupcakes. Regina put the cupcakes into the goody bags, as a party favour.

The final product looked colourful and interesting :) Don't you think so?

After receiving the 35 cupcakes on Friday night (06/01/12), Regina texted me and said that her mom wanted another 30 pieces! I was elated and most happy to help!

I really must thank Regina for her idea on putting Baking Bees stickers on the cupcake holders *muaks*

Birthday Cupcakes for Triple Birthdays

I originally typed this post on my iPhone and I completed it, but I decided to post it later as I was trying to make sure the photos were good enough.

Unfortunately, somehow I lost the draft copy :( So here I am trying to create another posting.

I finally got down to making the Valrhona chocolate cupcakes for my brothers Andrew & Marc + our good friend Rachael. The cupcakes had white buttercream icing topped for fondant red stars and letters to spell:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY in yellow
ANDREW MARC RACHAEL in orange and white marble

As the cupcakes were baking, everyone at home was coming into the kitchen trying to see if they could sample. Hahaha :) I was told that the aroma was unbelievable. I wish I could smell it too, but I was recovering from flu which impeded my sense of smell.

Here's what the cupcakes looked like while they were work in progress ;)

I made a total of 35 cupcakes, packed them into a huge box and off we went to the New Year's Eve party with 4 kids in tow.

35 Cupcakes
Family and friends at the party also commented that the cupcakes look professionally done :) After partaking, they said it was delicious! It really made my day! Definitely the best way to start the new year, don't you think?

Can you see the orange and white marble effect?

Hey! It's my initials ;)
