Caden is 5!

Welcoming 2016 with a blast!
Happy New Year, everyone!
May our days be happy & full of surprises!

Our first cake for 2016, is for the lady (my long-time good friend Regina) who literally for launched Baking Bees 4 years ago. Immense pleasure to bake again for her handsome little prince, Caden.

I made Caden's 1st birthday cupcakes for the goody bags in 2012!
Makes me very happy to be able to bake for him again.

This is the biggest rainbow cake we have made to date, a 10" square cake.
This is also our first naked rainbow cake!

Decoration is a Slugterra picture that was printed on edible icing sheet.
Borders have simple piped flowers, topped with colourful M&Ms.

Happy 5th Birthday, Caden! May the Lord's blessings be upon you always!

Macaron Rainbow Cake for Joel's Birthday + Our First BIG Macarons Order

My long time friend ordered a small rainbow cake for her brother, Joel's birthday.

Along with the cake, she also wanted some macarons.

The total number of macarons that could fit on top of the cake was 12.

Macarons were of 2 flavours -
vanilla (blue) and strawberry (pink).

As I had to make 2 batches of macarons, I asked my friends if anyone was interested to order some.

At the end, a kind friend bought 2 dozens (12 pcs) of my macarons! Yay! ^_^
This is my first bulk order of macarons.

Joshua's 12th Birthday Rainbow Surprise Cake with Macarons

Joshua was celebrating his milestone birthday, his mom/my friend Kathryn ordered this cake for his 12th birthday party.

This was a challenging cake in many ways.

First, it was a rainbow cake with Swiss meringue buttercream.
Next, I had to hunt for the extra long Kit Kats big packs of M&Ms.
They not available everywhere, only at selected supermarkets.
Lastly, I had to make macarons, on top of baking a cake!

Knowing how much the boys enjoyed the cake and macs, really brought a smile to my face! ^_^
Happy 12th birthday, Joshua!

Asher's 4th Birthday Construction Vehicles Cake

I've known Asher from birth, another little boy I've seen growing up.
Most delighted to make his 4th birthday cake.

Our adorable construction cake with Caterpillar construction vehicles once more, complete with edible sand and chocolate pebbles.

I made and sent this cake out without the toys,
his parents put the Caterpillar vehicles and chocolate pebbles on site,
according to my placement instructions.
They are pretty skilled! ^_^ Good job, Pui Yee and Yew Wye.

Birthday boy was totally delighted! Yay!
Happy 4th birthday, Asher!

Wizard and Magic cake for Aloysius' Science theme 10th birthday party

10th Birthday is another milestone birthday for our family,
it signals the start of what is known as upper primary years.
When boys grow very quickly, in terms of physique and mentality.

We engaged Mad Scientists to host the birthday party.
The boys had a great time, being awed by scientific concepts and simple experiments.

My baking buddy Kim was most kind to help me out with the figurines.
Absolutely one of the most skilful cake decorator I know.
She made the wizard, owl, black cats (oooh), books, scroll and potion bottles!
Thank you, Kim of Scones N Whatever!
I made the 3 cakes (rainbow, chocolate and vanilla, lettering and the little stars.

To add a twist, I made a poured rainbow cake, instead of baking it, layer by layer.
See what they look like in the pan and when the cake was cut.

Up close with the figurines! So cute! *love*

I love Rainbow Cake!

Rainbow Cake Number 2!

Within a week, I decided to make another rainbow cake. This time it was for my niece Joanne and again for Aloysius, as they are both born in April and we would have a family gathering to celebrate birthdays yearly.

I didn't want to decorate the rainbow cake that was exactly the same as the first one. That would be a tad boring for the birthday boy too.

I had to get creative. How so? I thought about it for a couple of days.
This is what I came up with! ^_^ Cute?

It's the same 6 coloured layers of cake with cream cheese frosting but this time, I used jelly beans to form the names of the 2 birthday kids and also to line the base with Disney gummies.

As the names had to be shortened to fit onto the cake, I opted to use their pet names instead.
